Shibataea Genus -
My 3 members of this genus have unique leaf forms, however I am unable to distinguish between S. chinensis & S. kumasaca - apparently the S. kumasaca will become taller over time.  I believe that these plants will do well in sun or shade but they require acidic soils to maintain fresh looking leaves.  I really want the Shibataea lancifolia to get taller and form a shrub as mine is thus far a ground hugger.  I have recently planted some in a wetter & sunnier site to see if it will size up.
These guys look good until temps approach the low single digits with the S. chinensis & S. kumasaca seeming noticeably hardier than S. lancifolia.

Shibataea kumasaca, sometimes called 'bears claw' bamboo due to the unique leaf shape. The fern leaf plant in the foreground is Pleioblastus pygmaeus 'Ramosissimus'.

Shibataea lancifolia, so far a ground cover for me I am hoping to have it realize its potential as a taller, rounded shrub.
