| Phyllostachys Mannii 'Decora' - Previously known as Phyllostachys Decora, this bamboo has been reclassified as a subspecies of Phyllostachys Mannii. I'm excited about this one as early results suggest excellent hardiness and mine is sizing up nicely in it's first couple of years. This bamboo is considered to be extremely forgiving of site conditions and reportedly has great drought tolerance, a fact confirmed during our extreme drought in 2007 as I did not water this bamboo at all and it showed no ill effects. The form of a mature specimen is very elegant and one of the most beautiful hardy bamboos. Best sited in full sun, I expect this bamboo to exceed 20 feet by 1 1/2 inch diameter in Zone 6 with medium-green culms turning golden with age & sun exposure, the colorful leaves wrapping new shoots are among the most beautiful. | ||||||||||||
